"My
paintings reflect the constant dialogue between
nature and humanity and how the history of this
coexistence is told through the landscape. I am
inspired by observations and memories of places,
events, and moments in time occurring in the landscape.
I sense the landscape as an anchor or a root system
holding life together and I am drawn to the manner
in which nature grows outward from the earth.
The circulation of the sky, seasons, and time
around the landscape as well as the characteristics
of light and shadow, shapes, and distance, are
things that I am sensitive to in my work. Painting
the mood and spirit of a place in time- its old
habits and constant dynamism- and telling a story,
which expresses a particular moment in time, deeply
touches the feeling of being human."
