Ellen T. Crenshaw is a Boston-based artist, movie-goer, comic-book-reader, and dirty-joke-teller. She grew up in south Florida, but moved to the unpredictable Northeast to pursue her illustration career, earning a B.F.A. at the Art Institute of Boston in 2007. Her clients include FableVision, Beer Advocate Magazine, Orlando Weekly, Monitor Group, SmartPak, and Boston's The Weekly Dig (among others); she's a member of the Boston Comics Roundtable and an alumni of Girls Drawin' Girls; she's been published in comics anthologies Womanthology, Inbound, and ZombieBomb!; she's co-founder of the fan art illustration collective, Fanartica; and she regularly exhibits her work all over the United States.
Ellen is most influenced by great stories and her artwork depicts characters to whom she relates. In her latest series, affectionately called "Beautiful Women," she investigates her interests in fashion and the female form while still maintaining the sense of silliness and fun that characterizes her work. The series depicts beautiful, fashionable women engaging in commonplace activities that may inadvertently compromise their beauty.
