Valerie Galloway...

"I was born in France in 1965, to an American father and a French mother, and have lived many places, including:France, Germany, Hawaii, California, Maryland, New York City, and currently in Tucson, Arizona. While in New York City I worked in Advertising and Fashion Photography as a studio manager and producer of still life photo shoots. I have a BFA in photography from the University of Arizona, though drawing and painting were always my first loves. I returned to it while pregnant with my son and was unable to use a darkroom, and I’ve continued ever since.

I’m influenced by old family photos, especially ones of my French mother and aunt, who always looked so glamourous with their fabulous 1960’s hairdos. I’m also influenced by French New Wave cinema, and old American TV shows from the 1960’s and 70’s.

Recently I’ve been incorporating vintage clippings from old French dictionaries, which I plan on exploring further."
